Official inauguration of the new AWB site
Three companies, three locations, 70 employees
Ceremony in Piusallee: On Friday, 27 January 2023, the new location of AWB Steuerberatungsgesellschaft mbH, AWB Rechtsanwaltsgesellschaft mbH and AWB Consulting GmbH was officially inaugurated. With the new premises at Piusallee 76, 48147 Münster, AWB is strengthening its position as one of the leading consulting firms for customs and foreign trade law as well as VAT in Germany.
Joining forces
‘AWB Steuerberatungsgesellschaft mbH was founded in 2005, followed by AWB Rechtsanwaltsgesellschaft mbH in 2008 and AWB Consulting GmbH in 2016, which was founded in 2013 as AWB Global Trade Consulting. Today, there are three companies in total, each with offices in Münster, Munich and Hamburg and a strong team of 70 employees. We have achieved this by joining forces,’ said founding partner Matthias Merz in his opening speech.
Consultancy focus: Customs law
One of AWB's consulting specialisms is European customs law. Over 30 specialists support companies with their expertise, for example when it comes to analysing and improving customs organisation and processes. Other services include applying for authorisations, preparing and supporting customs audits as well as refund, objection and appeal proceedings. AWB also specialises in advising on export controls and VAT and excise duty law.
Proprietary IT tools for the challenges of the future
What are the challenges of the future? Matthias Merz: "Digitalisation naturally also plays a major role in our area. We are consistently focussing on new and proprietary IT tools that support companies with their customs and export control processes. These tools help importers and exporters, for example, with sanctions list checks, authorisation and monitoring for the AEO (Authorised Economic Operator) and the introduction of a professional Internal Compliance Program (ICP)".
